Cinnamon comes from a tropical evergreen tree Cinnamomum Zeylanicum, native to Sri Lanka. The paper-thin inner layer of bark is stripped from young canes to form quills which are ground to make powder.
Cinnamon has a delightfully exotic bouquet, sweet, warm and woody. It adds flavour to cakes, puddings, biscuits, sweet curries and rice dishes. Combine with sugar and sprinkle on hot buttered toast for a delicious snack.
