About the Recipe



500g squid, cut into rings or small pieces

1 cup Lion Plain Flour

2 tsp Spencers Chinese Five Spice

1 tsp Spencers Chilli Powder

2 tsp Spencers White Pepper Ground

2 tsp Spencers Salt, Ground

Vegetable oil, for frying


  1. Place flour, five spice, chilli and pepper in a large bowl and mix together. Coat squid in spiced flour mix in small batches and set aside.

  2. Heat oil in a deep frying pan and cook squid for 1-2 minutes until golden. Cook squid in small batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.

  3. Serve squid with lemon wedges and your favourite Asian dipping sauce.
